Meng Hongwei, the Chinese head of the international police organisation Interpol, was reported missing by his wife in September.
Meng, 64,\u00a0 was last seen leaving for China from\u00a0Interpol’s headquarters in Lyon, southeast France, in late September, the judicial\u00a0source said.
Meng’s wife, who lives in Lyon, where\u00a0Interpol\u00a0is based, contacted the police after not hearing from her husband after\u00a0leaving for the trip.
Calls to an\u00a0Interpol\u00a0spokeswoman went unanswered.
Meng Hongwei was elected president of\u00a0 Interpol \u00a0in November 2016. His term is due to run until 2020.
