This news appears to come as a rebuttal to earlier reports about lower than normal iPhone sales, leading to iPhone XR deals in Japan. However, as Apple isn\u2019t giving exact sales numbers ( and will not be doing so in future), it is hard to contextualise the claims here against that of lower demand. The iPhone XR could very well be the best selling iPhone relative to its siblings, but that tells us absolutely nothing about how they\u2019re doing objectively speaking. The iPhone XS and XS Max are by themselves expensive devices, moreso than the iPhone 8 and iPhone X that they aim to be replacing. It is not out of the realm of possibility that customers aren\u2019t eager to shell out that bit more, especially when Android phones like the OnePlus 6T and Xiaomi and Huawei\u2019s various offerings provide a similar experience for cheaper.
That being said, it would not be the worst thing ever if Apple experienced reduced sales. There\u2019s only so many iPhones one can sell \u2014 even if everyone wanted one \u2014 and Apple may just have hit their ceiling.
