Apple’s Greg Joswiak has claimed that the iPhone XR has been the firm’s best selling device every day since launch. It comes less than two weeks after reports claimed production had been reduced.<\/b>
\nApple\u2019s best selling iPhone device is the iPhone XR according to Greg Joswiak, Apple\u2019s vice president of product marketing. The executive said that the phone had been the firm’s best selling iPhone model every day since it went on sale in October. The confirmation by Joswiak is somewhat surprising given that Apple has allegedly cut production of its 2018 iPhone models. He didn\u2019t specify the exact number of units sold.
Joswiak\u2019s comments were only briefly reported, having said:
The iPhone XR went on sale in October starting at $749, it followed the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max which launched in September from $999 and $1,099 respectively. Notably, despite releasing these phones, it kept the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus as well as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on sale. With prices of the iPhone 7 starting at $449, today\u2019s news shows that most customers would prefer the newer devices instead of a lower priced model, but aren\u2019t necessarily going to jump into the iPhone XS premium market.
Joswiak also confirmed that Apple will be participating in World AIDS Day on Saturday, December 1 by donating $1 for every Apple Pay purchase at the Apple Store, Apple.com, or via the Apple Store app. It will continue to make these donations until December 7. Additionally, it plans to turn 125 Apple Store logos red in celebration of the day\u2019s 30th anniversary.
The iPhone XR Product Red edition was released at the phone\u2019s launch, with an unspecified portion of the revenue from this model going towards fighting AIDS. Joswiak didn\u2019t confirm whether or not a Product Red edition of the iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max would be made available too.
