Amazon Music indeed landed on Android TV recently. However, the service is currently restricted to the increasingly aging NVIDIA Shield TV, a powerful but old Android TV Box. Although certainly not the rollout Amazon Music users had hoped for, the gradual steps taken by Amazon could be a strong indicator of the company\u2019s changing attitude towards allowing consumption of its content streaming platforms on hardware that other manufacturers offer. After all, Apple Music recently took a very significant step in this very subject.
A lot of buyers, who use Amazon and its related services, also use Amazon Music. Incidentally, Amazon Music comes free with every subscription of Amazon Prime. Needless to say, this is quite a good deal primarily because the service has an expansive catalog of song titles and albums. Moreover, it also has a steadily increasing collection of artists, curated playlists, radio station broadcasts and albums from established as well as new artists.
Quite recently, a Play Store listing for a TV version of Amazon Music appeared online. This got several Android TV users quite excited. Several enthusiasts who trialled the service, complimented the interface was decent to navigate. The app wasn\u2019t officially available. However, interested users could pre-register to get it as soon as possible.
The listing clearly mentioned Android TV Amazon Music app. Needless to mention, this strongly indicated Amazon Music was coming to Android TV. In other words, owners of Android TV hardware would soon be able to use their home theater speakers that are usually hooked to the TVs, to listen to music streaming through the Android TV boxes that was played from Amazon Music service.
However, the joy was rather short-lived as \u2018Amazon Music for Android TV\u2019 changed into \u2018Amazon Music for NVIDIA SHIELD.\u2019 The change was noticed when NVIDIA released Shield Experience 7.2 update for Shield TV Boxes. Among other feature tweaks and bug fixes, the update packed Amazon Music integration. When the update process began, the name Amazon Music for NVIDIA SHIELD reportedly popped-up.
Amazon and Google do not have high interoperability. Although neither explicitly bans the other from their respective online app repositories, quite a few apps and platforms do not work correctly or fail to work entirely.
However, the NVIDIA Shield TV is certainly an exception. The two year old Android TV box enjoys good support from Amazon. The Amazon Prime Video that often refuses to work on quite a few Android devices works very well on Shield TV. It appears Amazon Music too, could work in a very similar manner.<\/p>\n
