\nThe mainstream media is suggesting a \u201cnew virus\u201d reported by Chinese scientists could trigger the next \u201cglobal outbreak.\u201d
BBC says a \u201cnew strain of flu\u201d carried by pigs could \u201cmutate\u201d and \u201cspread easily from person to person.\u201d
\u201cWhile it is not an immediate problem, [scientists] say, it has \u201call the hallmarks\u201d of being highly adapted to infect humans and needs close monitoring,\u201d the outlet reported. \u201cAs it\u2019s new, people could have little or no immunity to the virus.\u201d
\u201cThe scientists write in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that measures to control the virus in pigs, and the close monitoring of swine industry workers, should be swiftly implemented.\u201d
Don\u2019t be surprised if power-hungry politicians exploit the \u201cnew threat\u201d of another virus to cement the control they\u2019ve already taken over the economy and other aspects of everyday life in response to the coronavirus.
Many of them have already signaled that these fundamental changes are here to stay by telling people to accept the \u201cnew normal,\u201d even though a lot of these changes are either ineffective or completely out of proportion to the situation at hand.
And while politicians have an obligation to protect public health, this shouldn\u2019t give way to politically-motivated power grabs, regardless of political party.
