\nAn Arizona family is reconsidering its stance on coronavirus vaccinations after their beloved matriarch died of the disease. Fernanda Vega,47, died July 13 of virus complications, leaving behind four children,10 grandchildren, and friends, her husband, Ysmael Vega, told Fox 10 Phoenix Thursday. Vega is himself recovering from COVID-19 \u2014 which he contracted a few weeks ago \u2014 and pneumonia, according to the outlet. Fernanda, a longtime health care worker, caught the illness from her husband, as did their 17-year-old son, according to the outlet. Her symptoms turned dangerous quickly and on July 13, she died within an hour of going to the emergency room, according to the outlet. The family learned that Fernanda, who would have turned 48 next month, had a weak pulse and blood clot in the lungs, her husband told the outlet. Noting the family had not previously been inoculated due to concerns about potential side effects, Ysmael Vega told the outlet his feelings have changed. \u201cWith what I have experienced, I don\u2019t want to go through this again. I do not,\u201d he said. Remembering his late wife as \u201cmy rock\u201d and \u201cthe foundation\u201d of the family, Ysmael told Fox 10: \u201cEverybody went to her for whatever. She took so much on.\u201d A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the family following their loss and has already raised over $17,500 of a $20,000 goal.<\/p>\n
