Tony Gonzales of Texas said the secretary of homeland security attempted to \u201cbull****\u201d him during a call where they discussed national security concerns at the U.S.-Mexico border, the Washington Examiner reported. \u201cWe discussed a wide variety of things, but one of the things that I mentioned in particular, I was like, \u2018Look, the migrant situation\u2019s absolutely chaotic and terrible, but what keeps me up at night is another 9\/11-type of event,’\u201d Gonzales told the Washington Examiner about his call with Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. \u201cAnd when you have all of your Border Patrol agents \u2014 it\u2019s not only in the Del Rio sector, it\u2019s the surrounding sectors as well \u2014 that all kind of come to Del Rio to handle this situation, that literally leaves our border wide open,\u201d he said. Gonzales \u2018 district includes 800 miles of the southern border and the town of Del Rio, where thousands of migrants have overwhelmed border officials. The phone call was the first time Gonzales has directly spoken with Mayorkas since the migrants flooded the town, the Washington Examiner reported. \u201c\u2018No. No. Everything is under control,’\u201d Gonzales told the Washington Examiner, describing Mayorkas\u2019 comment. \u201cNo, don\u2019t tell me, \u2018Everything\u2019s under control.\u2019 It\u2019s not under control. Because like, I know it\u2019s not under control. You can bulls*** somebody else, but you can\u2019t bulls*** me.\u201d \u201cIt was kind of like, dismissive a little bit, and that\u2019s a problem, especially when you\u2019re talking about national security.
