\nThe helicopter pilot who died Sunday after crashing near Storm King Mountain north of New York City has been identified by police as Arthur Charych of Long Island. Charych,73, of Setauket, died after crashing about 50 miles north of New York City around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. An investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board is underway. Hiker Gavin Amacher of Wappinger was summiting the mountain with his girlfriend when they heard the helicopter \u201cexplode,\u201d he told Mid Hudson News. \u201cWe heard it fly overhead and then \u2018boom,\u2019 explosions and I heard it went down in the gully up there, hit some trees, exploded,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
