While promoting his new album = ( Equals), Sheeran admitted that viral reactions to his appearance made him \u201cmore careful\u201d about agreeing to film and TV appearances. \u201cI feel like I pissed a lot of people by being in that, but anytime I meet someone that is like, \u2018Oh, you cameod on that show,\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018What would you say?’\u201d the Grammy-winner said during an appearance on the British radio station Absolute Radio. \u201cEveryone would say yes. I was a fan of the show; they asked me to be in it. I didn\u2019t expect there to be that much backlash but I am definitely more careful when I am offered cameos now.\u201d Sheeran has played himself in other projects over the years, such as the 2019 musical comedy Yesterday and 2016\u2019s Bridget Jones\u2019s Baby. As he explained on the Nov.1 episode of Dax Shepard\u2019s Armchair Expert podcast, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss asked him to appear on the iconic HBO fantasy series as a surprise for his friend Maisie Williams (who played Arya Stark). However, the surprise was accidentally spoiled by fellow Thrones star Sophie Turner. \u201c[Maisie has] always been awesome,\u201d Sheeran added. \u201cI don\u2019t think they had written the ending yet. It was meant to be her last season but it wasn\u2019t. And as a surprise for her, [they got] me on.
