The former Harvard professor, who worked as Epstein’s lawyer, denies that claim. According to Dershowitz, there’s no mystery behind his being booked by the BBC, either. “The BBC called me and asked me to do it,” he told the Daily News. “I agreed and, I immediately said in the interview that I was accused. I didn’t try to hide anything.” On Wednesday’s BBC newscast, Dershowitz was introduced simply as a “constitutional lawyer.” “The most important thing for British viewers is that the government was very careful who it used as witnesses,” the 83-year-old attorney said. “It did not use, as a witness, the woman who accused Prince Andrew, who accused me, who accused many other people, because the government didn’t believe she was telling the truth.” It’s unclear why prosecutors did not call Giuffre to testify, though they were successful in making their case without putting her on the stand. The defense could have called witnesses to question the 38-year-old mom, who lives in California. Dershowitz told The News that he welcomed appearing on the BBC because Giuffre’s claims that she was also trafficked to Prince Andrew made the entire Maxwell-Epstein saga of great interest to a British audience. He also believes that the fact Giuffre didn’t testify in Maxwell’s conviction indicates prosecutors didn’t feel confident a jury would believe her claims about the prince. The jury heard about the powerful figures who Maxwell and Epstein considered friends, during the month-long trial, including former presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, as well as Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew has also “ categorically ” denied having an improper relationship with Giuffre. Giuffre is suing Prince Andrew for alleged sex assault. Maxwell,60, was convicted Wednesday by a jury in Manhattan Federal Court on five counts tied to the grooming of girls for Epstein to sexually abuse between 1994 and 2004. She faces up to 65 years in prison.

Dershowitz says he has nothing to hide, no reason for a BBC apology The BBC issued an apology Thursday after having lawyer Alan Dershowitz on air to speak about the Ghislaine Maxwell verdict, considering his connection to people involved in the case, including the defendant and her former partner, sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. “The interview […]

[113
