The hosts of „The View“ want more Republican guests, but say invites to them largely go ignored<\/b>
\nDespite what some might think, the hosts of \u201cThe View\u201d want more Republican guests to come on the show. In fact, the ABC talk show has extended the invite to many \u2014 they\u2019re just saying no.
Actress Cheryl Hines was Tuesday\u2019s guest, stopping by in support of her new book \u201cUnscripted.\u201d But her time at the desk was largely dominated by the hosts pushing her on husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.\u2019s medical views and advice. It got a bit tense at moments, but generally stayed respectful. Still, moderator Whoopi Goldberg chuckled as they returned from break after Hines\u2019 segments ended.
\u201cThat was interesting!\u201d she said coyly. \u201cBut that\u2019s the great thing about \u2018The View,\u2019 you know? We want people to come and give their views! And everyone who comes here, we try to be respectful, and ask tough questions. We ask tough questions because we\u2019re otherwise speculating.\u201d
At that, host Joy Behar chimed in, saying that she thinks \u201cThe View\u201d should have more Republicans on, but that \u201cthey don\u2019t want to come.\u201d
\u201cThey\u2019re scared of us. It\u2019s like Marjorie Taylor Greene says, that she finds the Republican men afraid of powerful women,\u201d Behar said. \u201cWell, that may be true of all political persuasions. But if they would come on the show, they can explain to us what they\u2019re trying to do to this country.\u201d
\u201cAnd we\u2019ve had some good ones, but like, I always think it\u2019s helpful when we have \u2014 like Ted Cruz, I think we should have,\u201d host Alyssa Farah Griffin added. \u201cWe\u2019ve invited Mike Johnson. Thomas Massie has been super interesting, there are some more Republicans we should have on.\u201d
The hosts were quick to remind Farah Griffin that Cruz has come on in the past (his 2022 appearance was interrupted by protestors), and they would welcome him again. Host Sara Haines also pointed out that Chris Christie has regularly come on the show as well.
Even during Hines\u2019 interview, Goldberg noted at one point that \u201cthis isn\u2019t your fight,\u201d but that Kennedy himself wouldn\u2019t come on the show.
Host Sunny Hostin later agreed that she would love to talk to Kennedy directly, to which Hines replied that he was going to come on the show, but she herself told him \u201cmaybe don\u2019t.\u201d
A representative for \u201cThe View\u201d did not immediately respond to TheWrap\u2019s request for comment on whether an offer to Kennedy was ever made and if an appearance came close to fruition.
