Donkey Kong Bananza was a smaller action platformer that let players punch through solid rock. Finally, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was an open-world game with a delivery and crafting system that was beyond chill.
It was a good year for gaming, but now the new year is here. What Triple-A experiences will players get to enjoy in 2026? While most of these games have solid dates or release windows, they may get delayed. Delayed or not, the wait will be worth it.

There are various mini-games too, like arm wrestling, fishing, flute playing, and so on it goes. From picking up sheep to stealing horse-drawn carriages to fighting hordes of enemies in brutal combat, Crimson Desert looks intense for a Korean action RPG.
007 First Light<\/p>\n

As a younger Bond, players will be given a loose leash on missions, although whether they will have as many opportunities as Agent 47 in the Hitman series is unknown. What\u2019s true so far is that the developer seems capable of presenting action set pieces that would feel right at home in a Bond movie.

Players can expect a lot of intense action with fluid swordplay, flips, counters, magic, and more. It looks unlike any other action RPG coming out in 2026, so if the Wuxia action of Where Winds Meet was disappointing, hopefully Phantom Blade Zero will be more satisfying.

Vice City and its adjoining areas look absurdly massive and brimming with content, from hiking up mountains to kayaking down river streams, and of course, committing crimes all in the name of getting rich or dying while trying.
Marvel\u2019s Wolverine<\/p>\n

Marvel\u2019s Wolverine is another game that has been cooking for a while, first teased in 2021 before making a grand entrance in 2025 with a new presentation. Based on what they did for their Spider-Man trilogy, Insomniac Games has proven itself capable of handling major Marvel properties.
The action looks more brutal than the Spider-Man games, which is fitting for the unhinged nature of Wolverine as a character. It doesn\u2019t look like an open-world game, but there are certainly plenty of set pieces to see, from road chases to taking down enemies in the snowy mountains.
Fire Emblem: Fortune\u2019s Weave<\/p>\n

For something completely different, Fire Emblem: Fortune\u2019s Weave is the next mainline Fire Emblem game in the tactical RPG series. While the setting looks different, taking place in what seems to be a battle coliseum, the gameplay looks more of the same.
Players will be able to form parties, march them onto the grid-based map, and attack units with various weapons, magic, and skills. There will also be some town-based exploring outside of combat, but how much is currently a mystery.
Onimusha: Way Of The Sword<\/p>\n

The Onimusha series has been stuck on the PS2 since 2006, as Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams was the last major console release, beyond remasters. So, Onimusha: Way of the Sword has been a long time coming, and fans couldn\u2019t be more thrilled to go back to feudal Japan once again to hunt demons and absorb their souls.
The tone looks darker than past entries, although there are some demonic characters who would fit right in from the campy villains of past entries, including Gogandantess from Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. With sword-based skills, enhanced with a bit of demonic magic, players will be able to dive deep into the combat and lore of this upcoming entry sometime soon in 2026.

Control was released in 2019 as a connective tissue to the world of Alan Wake, wherein Jesse Faden goes into a mysterious organization’s building, the Federal Bureau of Control, to look for her missing brother Dylan. She gained psychic powers, her gun could transform, and everything took place within buildings.
In Control Resonant, Dylan gets released and goes on an adventure through city streets, with his powers based around a transforming melee weapon. The melee-based structure, new character, and perhaps a more open environment could be enough to get more players excited about the Alan Wake universe.
Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis<\/p>\n

Tomb Raider blew minds in 1996 as an action-adventure video game alternative to the Indiana Jones movies. Now, once again, Lara Croft will be getting a visual upgrade when Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches sometime in 2026.
Fans of shooting dinosaurs with dual pistols will not be disappointed, as it seems like most of the original locations and set pieces will return. Then, in 2027, a new Lara Croft adventure will launch, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, so it\u2019s a good time to be a fan of this franchise.<\/p>\n
