According to The Telegraph, it\u2019s believed that the subscription model used by YouTube Red, as well as features such as video downloads, can require contracts to be renegotiated. Those in the music industry who have expressed their disappointment in the amount earned from their content being on YouTube may take the renegotiation opportunity to make their content more lucrative. Last year, YouTube paid out $1 billion to the industry last year, critics believe this is an insignificant amount in contrast to how much is raked in by YouTube.
By last summer, YouTube Red had around 1.5 million paying subscribers, a long way behind Spotify\u2019s 40 million paying customers , and Netflix\u2019s 86 million customers.
