Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus are, they’re not actually the company’s top-end phones, as Samsung has also made a version of the Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage – up from 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage in the normal model.
It was initially thought that this would be exclusive to South Korea , but it seems it might get a wider launch.
According to Yonhap News , “plans to expand the sales to other countries will be considered depending on market’s demand.”
They don’t get more specific than that, so there’s no guarantee that the US, UK or Australia will ever see the powered-up Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, but it sounds like the potential is there if Samsung deems there to be enough interest.
And interest would have to come from those with very deep pockets, as the Galaxy S8 Plus with 6GB of RAM is launching in South Korea for 1.15 million won (roughly $1,020, £815, AU$1,360).
Based on the South Korean price for the standard S8 Plus that makes this model around $150, £120, AU$200 more expensive, though pre-orders at least get a free Samsung DeX thrown in.
Hopefully we will see the 6GB version of the S8 Plus in more locations, but if not the standard model is likely to still be a strong buy – we’ll let you know for sure soon in our full
