The world is reacting to the tragic news that Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington committed suicide by hanging.
The body of Bennington, 41, was discovered inside of a home in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County, TMZ reported. Police say that Bennington was the only one in the home at the time, as his family was out of town. His body was reportedly found upstairs by an employee.
Bennington is survived by his wife, Talinda, and his six children .
Bennington\u2019s voice became synonymous with the nu metal genre of the early 2000s. Linkin Park arrived on the scene with their 2000 album, Hybrid Theory, which was certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2005 and was the best-selling album of the decade.
Linkin Park followed up their most popular release with 2003\u2019s Meteora and then Minutes to Midnight in 2007. In 2010, Linkin Park released A Thousand Suns, Living Things in 2012 and then The Hunting Party in 2014.
Starting in 2013, Bennington stepped in to fill Scott Weiland\u2019s spot with Stone Temple Pilots, but stopped in 2015 to spend more time with his family and Linkin Park.
Over the years, his bond with Linkin Park founder and co-vocalist Mike Shinoda grew tighter.
Shinoda founded the band in 1996 alongside Rob Bourdon and Brad Delson. They brought on three other band members and were first called Xero, though they had a tough time obtaining a record deal. That\u2019s until he recruited Bennington to come along and be the lead vocalist.
Understandably shocked, Shinoda released a short statement following the news of Benninton\u2019s death.

Bennington was also close friends with Chris Cornell, the legendary frontman for Soundgarden, who committed suicide in May .
When news of Cornell\u2019s death surfaced, Bennington issued a lengthy tribute to his longtime friend.
\u201cI\u2019 m still weeping, with sadness, as well as gratitude for having shared some very special moments with you and your beautiful family, \u201d the statement read. \u201cYou have inspired me in many ways you could have never known.\u201d

Bennington attended Cornell\u2019s funeral and sang a cover of \u201cHallelujah.\u201d He was found dead inside of the residence the same day that Cornell would have turned 53-years old.
