Jay-Z performed his collaboration with Linkin Park “Numb/Encore” Sunday in honor of Linkin Park’s late singer, Chester Bennington.
Aug. 21 (UPI) — Jay-Z performed his collaboration with Linkin Park “Numb/Encore” Sunday in honor of Linkin Park’s late singer, Chester Bennington.
Jay-Z dedicated the song to Bennington who died in July at the age of 41 during his set at England’s Virgin V Festival at Hyland Park, Us Weekly reported.
“Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester?” the rapper asked fans onstage, noted E! News . “Linkin Park, one time tonight. Please make some noise so he can hear you all the way in heaven tonight!”
“Peace and love!” Jay-Z said at the end of his performance.
“Numb/Encore” was featured on Jay-Z and Linkin Park’s 2004 EP Collision Course. The track won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2006 Grammys.
Bennington was laid to rest at the end of July during a private funeral near his home in Palos Verdes, Calif. The singer was discovered dead inside his residence. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed that the 41-year-old hanged himself from a bedroom door.
