Asia set for a light session as markets in China, South Korea are off

The Australian market opened up 0.1 percent and Nikkei futures pointed to a higher open for Japan.
Asia is set to open modestly higher on Monday as several major markets are closed for much of the week.
Nikkei futures pointed to a higher open in Japan, with Chicago futures trading at 20,435 and Osaka futures at 20,360. The benchmark index last closed at 20,356.28.
The Bank of Japan is set to release the results of its “Tankan” survey that measures business confidence in the country at 7:50 a.m. HK/SIN.
In Australia, the ASX 200 traded up 0.53 percent at 5,711.90 in early trade. Major banking shares climbed in early trade, with ANZ up 0.4 percent, Commonwealth Bank higher by 0.72 percent, Westpac up 0.66 percent and the National Australia Bank advancing 0.
