PONTIAC — Police are searching for a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run incident last month that has since been ruled a homicide.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the killing of 40-year-old Brandon Hardin of Pontiac.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash involving a pedestrian about 1:13 a.m. Oct. 29 on Auburn Road near Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard after a 911 caller reported a man was struck by a vehicle and was not moving.
The vehicle fled the scene and was described as an older model, dark colored full-size sedan, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies spoke with witnesses, who said the victim was assaulted on the 600 block of Auburn Road before the hit-and-run.
He was “knocked into the street,” then was hit by the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
The subject involved in the assault was described as a light-complexioned black male in his 20s, between 5-foot-5 and 6 feet tall with wavy hair, according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim suffered severe head trauma and was transported to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s office
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) SPEAK-UP. A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered and callers can remain anonymous.
