Realme 2 will come with a notched display, dual cameras and an all-day battery life
Realme is all set to announce its second smartphone after the Realme 1 in India today. The Realme 2 has been teased by the company for a while now, and there are a few details about the device that we know already. The event is scheduled to start at 12.30pm and you will be able to watch the livestream on Fipkart.
The Realme 2 comes following a pretty great debut for the Realme 1. The company is touting a phone that brings features that are popular with consumers in 2018. This includes a notched display, dual cameras and an all-day battery life. In addition to this, the Realme 2 will continue to bring the brand’s focus on attractive design and impressive performance at an affordable price.
Based on what the company and past leaks have told us, the Realme 2 will bring a larger display compared to the Realme 1 thanks to the notch. It will sport a 6.2-inch display, although the company is yet to confirm the resolution. Leaks has suggested that this will be an HD+ resolution, which if true will be a downgrade compared to the Realme 1’s FHD+ resolution.
Based on the renders and leaked images so far, the Realme 2 will get a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a feature that was missing on the Realme 1. This will be offered in addition to facial recognition as biometric options. Realme has confirmed that the upcoming device will feature dual cameras on the back, the configuration of which is still unconfirmed. However, a leaked spec sheet last week revealed that the device will have a 12-megapixel primary sensor and 2-megapixel secondary sensor for depth-of-field support. Up front, the device will get a similar 8-megapixel sensor as on the Realme 1.
As for the chipset powering the whole device, Realme is yet to reveal anything apart from the fact that it will be a Snapdragon chipset rather than MediaTek. To recall, the Realme 1 got a Helio P60 chipset. Recent reports suggest that the Realme 2 will get a Snapdragon 450 processor coupled with up to 4GB of RAM, which would again be a downgrade.
Lastly, the Realme 2 will boast of an impressive battery life as the company has confirmed that it will house a 4,230mAh capacity. This is significantly bigger than the 3,410mAh capacity inside the Realme 1. Based on everything else recent leaks have told us, the Realme 2 will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1. It will support two 4G VoLTE SIM slots, will measure 156.2×75.6×8.2 and weigh 168 grams.
We’ll know more about the pricing and availability of the Realme 2 once the company announces the device in just a few hours so do follow this space for more.
