Asus Dual 2080 Ti OC is one of the popular custom models but it does not support the recommeneded EK water block. This is what you need to know.
Asus Dual 2080 Ti OC is one of the popular custom models and there are some people that prefer to remove the custom air cooling in favor of custom liquid cooling. It is interesting to note that the recommended EK Water Block does not work with the card. Meaning that the card does not sit right and there is some space left in between the GPU and water block contact surface.
A Reddit user reported that he got the Asus Dual 2080 Ti OC and without even gaming on it, he just check to see whether the card was running fine. After that he took off the air cooler and tried to apply the EK-Vector RTX 2080 Ti – Copper + Plexi high-performance water block but the GPU would not make contact with the copper plate of the water block. You can check out images of the graphics card below:
It’s not like the guy didn’t know what he was during. It was his third water cooled card and this was the first time that he came across an issue like this. This is very odd an this is most likely a defect in the water block design. It is more than likely that this is not an isolated issue and I am pretty sure that the rest of the batch will be affected as well.
As of right now, we have no confirmation regarding what the issue is from EK or from Asus but we should be able to find out soon enough. If you are interested in learning more about the matter then be sure to stay tuned.
The issue does not seem to be with the Asus Dual 2080 Ti OC as the user tried the same water block with a second card and the issue remained. So it is more than likely an issue with the water block design.
