Fist-pumping Michigan senator, Supreme Court justice appear in 'Vice'

It’s an eye-catching photo that appears for a fleeting moment on the big screen — the surprise cameo of two prominent Macomb County faces.
Neither has ventured into a movie theater to see themselves in the film, but they’ve surely heard about their stardom from others.
“People are getting a big charge out of it. We’re in a movie on the big screen,” said Michigan Supreme Court Justice David Viviano, a former Macomb County Circuit Court judge and chief judge.
Viviano and Sen. Peter Lucido, R-Shelby Township, are in a photograph that appears toward the very end of the movie “Vice” — Adam McKay’s film about the life and career of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
The photo is believed to be taken during a Nov. 6,2016 rally for then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights.
Lucido, a former state representative and lawyer, is the primary face in the photo — his clenched fist in the air, his mouth agape in a cheer of support.
“I call that passion,” Lucido said Thursday of his expression in the photo.
Viviano, who won an eight-year seat on the Michigan Supreme Court in November 2016, is standing in front of Lucido with no expression.
Viviano, who was campaigning for election to a full term on the court at that time, said judges can’t support or endorse a partisan candidate, but they find themselves at events where partisan candidates are.
