Hockey roundup: Brighton gets more production from newcomers in win over Northville

Brighton beat Northville, while Howell and Pinckney lost hockey games Wednesday.
With only six returning players, Brighton was going to rely heavily upon newcomers to have success this hockey season. So far, so good. Sophomore Aiden Seiter became the fifth Bulldog to score his first high school goal through five games this season in a 2-0 victory over Northville Wednesday at Kensington Valley Ice House. Seiter’s goal from a scrum following a faceoff gave Brighton a 1-0 lead 6 minutes and 10 seconds into the game. The Bulldogs nursed that lead, despite dominating possession, until sophomore Lane Petit scored his third goal of the season on a breakaway with 11:20 remaining in the game. “The scoring’s been relatively spread out,” Brighton coach Kurt Kivisto said. “Both goals were by sophomores. There’s been quite a few different guys contributing so far this year. We’re not reliant on one line. That’s got to be the focus moving forward to get goal scoring spread throughout the lineup.
