Ally Bank and First Light FCU are the latest banks to put their support behind Microsoft Wallet amid little fanfare. The Redmond company has been awfully quiet about Microsoft Wallet since last year.
Announced over a year ago, Microsoft’s Wallet has not been heard about in months and it’s not at all surprising. The mobile payments system on the ill-fated Windows 10 Mobile platform has been largely ignored. Now, two more banks have added their support for Microsoft’s payment system amid little fanfare. Ally Bank and First Light FCU bank are the latest institutions who have quietly pushed their support behind the solution.
This Windows Phone Reddit thread was the first to discover the new additions. Interestingly, the Redmond company’s own website dedicated to the payment system hasn’t updated its list. Chase Bank was reported to be announcing its support this year for Microsoft’s mobile payment service but that has yet to happen as evidenced by the lingering « coming soon » sticker under its logo. It is important to note that the functionality is available on three devices – the Lumia 650, Lumia 950, and Lumia 950 XL, and is exclusive to Windows 10 Mobile users in the United States.
If you’re still using a compatible Windows 10 Mobile device and have an account with the recently added banks, you should be able to use the service. If you run into any trouble, be sure to check the Wallet support pages of Ally Bank or First Light FCU bank.
