Charles Barkley rips Roy Moore, Steve Bannon invokes 'Trump miracle' at last-minute Alabama election rallies

The deep divisions between Democrats and Republicans were on full display Monday night as Alabama Senate candidates Doug Jones and Roy Moore hosted last-minute rallies to court voters on the fence about an election that has taken on national significance for both parties.
At Jones’ rally in state capital Birmingham, retired NBA star and Alabama native Charles Barkley blasted Moore over allegations that he has sexually assaulted and harassed several women — some when they were as young 14.
« At some point, we’ve got to stop looking like idiots to the nation, » Barkley said to cheers from the crowd, adding that he’s embarrassed by the state’s history of electing deeply conservative lawmakers.
Meanwhile, over 200 miles away in rural Midland City, President Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon stayed clear of addressing the harsh allegations against Moore, instead invoking biblical language to urge Alabamians to vote for Moore.
Conflicting polls add uncertainty in Alabama Senate race
« This is greater than Judge Moore, this is greater than Alabama, » Bannon told a barn packed with supporters of the conservative candidate, describing Tuesday’s special election as an « up-or-down vote between the Trump miracle and the nullification project. »
Barkley also took a shot at Bannon, calling him a « white separatist nationalist » who is courting voters who will hold Alabama back.
Earlier in the day, Trump urged Alabamians to vote for Moore, calling him « a conservative who will help me steer this country back on track after eight years of the Obama disaster. »
President Obama recorded a robocall of his own for Jones’ campaign.

« This one’s serious, » Obama said in the call, adding that this is an election « you can’t sit out. »
Several polls, including two from Fox News, have shown Jones leading Moore by at least five percent.
