Earlier this month, China’s TENAA certified an OPPO smartphone dubbed as the A83. The smartphone is now official as the latest addition to OPPO’s A series lineup in China. The budget Android smartphone features a 5.7-inch sized bezel-less display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and sports an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with the same A. I. based beautifying technology seen on the F5. It supports face unlock as well, claimed to unlock the phone in just 0.18 seconds. As far as rest of the specs go, the A83 is more or less on par with other recent budget Android smartphones. It runs on an octa-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. The rear camera is a 13-megapixel unit with support for Full HD video recording.
Available in Black and Champagne Gold colors, the OPPO A83 has been priced at 1399 yuan (Rs.13,600 approx.) in China. It will be going on sale in the country starting December 29 th. No word yet on the A83’s availability in markets outside of China. If OPPO decides to bring the new A83 to India, it could be pitted against devices such as the Honor 7X and Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi 5 Plus.
