Goldman Sachs exec's assistant charged with stealing $1.2M worth of his boss' rare wine

The personal assistant to a Goldman Sachs top exec is accused of swiping some $1.2 million in wine from him, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Nicolas De-Meyer was arrested in Los Angeles late Tuesday for the theft of hundreds of bottles of valuable vino between 2014 to 2016, the Manhattan U. S. Attorney’s Office said in a newly unsealed indictment.
The wines belonged to David Solomon, president and co-chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs.

The bottles included vintages from the French estate Domaine de la Romanee-Conti — « widely considered among the best, most expensive, and rarest wines in the world, » court papers state.
In October 2016, De-Meyer allegedly nabbed seven bottles of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, which his boss had bought for $133,650, and sold it shortly thereafter.
De-Meyer, 40, was expected to appear Wednesday in Los Angeles court.
« The theft was discovered in the fall of 2016 and reported to law enforcement,” Goldman Sachs said in a statement. « They have been pursuing the matter and are better positioned to answer questions. »
