Bernie Sanders Just Said 'Texas Can Go Blue' in 2018 — But Look at the Primaries… Yikes

While talking with CNN’s Jake Tapper at the annual South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said it is possible for the state of Texas to be turned into a Democratic state, according to The Hill .
“If you in Texas are prepared to work hard, stand up, fight back, go out to your neighbors, talk to those people who voted for [President Donald] Trump, make sure that every friend you have, and family member that you have, comes out and votes — yeah, I believe that Texas can go blue,” Sanders said.

While a lofty goal, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) got more votes in the primary than all of his Democratic challengers combined. Cruz won his primary with 1,317,450 votes, while his closest competitor, Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), only received 641,324 votes.
