Two Braham High School students were killed in a car crash near Mora, MN, Saturday morning, according to authorities.
Two Braham High School students were killed in a car crash near Mora Saturday morning, according to authorities.
The crash involved two vehicles at the intersection of 195th Avenue and Rainbow Street in Comfort Township east of Mora, according to a press release from the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office. A juvenile male passenger died at the scene and the adult female driver of his vehicle was transported to North Memorial Hospital where she later died.
The adult occupants of the second vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries. Authorities did not say what time the crash occurred.
The Braham Area School Superintendent Ken Gagner, posted a message on the school website about the deaths, identifying the victims.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Braham Area School student’s Gavin Butenhoff (11th grade) and Alexis Hasser (12th grade) as the result of a traffic accident March 10,2018.
“Both students are treasured members of our Bomber community and we ask that you please keep their families and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”
The schools were open Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. for students, staff, and community members to gather with licensed counselors and clergy on site. In addition, counselors will be available for students Monday and in the weeks to come.
“This is a time a deep sadness for our Braham Community. We offer our love and support for all those hurting,” Gagner wrote.
