Xiaomi has already confirmed that its next flagship smartphone with Snapdragon 845 chipset will launch on March 27. The smartphone is the much-rumored Mi MIX 2S, with updated design and faster processor. The company teased the Antutu score of the smartphone in the last official poster.
Now, Xiaomi has posted a video on its Weibo account which asks, “How fast is your Snapdragon 845”, further hinting at the use of Qualcomm’s flagship mobile platform. The Mi MIX 2S will be among the first set of devices to use the new mobile chipset. Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ announced at MWC 2018 will be the first devices to go on sale with Snapdragon 845 under the hood. The smartphone will be followed by Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, which are expected to go on sale sometime next month.
At MWC last week, Asus also launched the new ZenFone 5Z with Snapdragon 845, but it will go on sale only in June. The Mi MIX 2S, on the other hand, might become available for purchase soon after its official launch. While the teaser video posted by Xiaomi does not giveaway a lot of details, some reports suggest it will have even thinner bezels than the Mi MIX 2.
The leaked renders suggest Xiaomi will move the front-facing camera to the top-right corner that will allow the company to further trim the chin of the device. A leaked poster of the device showed that it will have more than 90 percent screen-to-body ratio, and will be the closest one can get to all-screen design.
In terms of specifications, the Mi MIX 2S is said to feature a 6.01-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is said to have 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and Sony IMX363 image sensor at the back. There are rumors that Mi MIX 2S will use an in-display fingerprint sensor, but it is most likely to have one at the back since the technology is relatively new and not easy to procure at the moment.
