As if all the Pixel 3 XL leaks weren’t bad enough for Google, now an electronics shop in Hong Kong is actually selling a unit, a full three days before the phon’s launch. It’ll cost you a mere $2,030.
To say that Google let the cat out of the bag when it comes to the Pixel 3 and 3 XL would be an understatement. A barrage of leaks over the last few months have told us almost everything there is to know about the two phones.
However, this time around, it seems the company may have lost the bag alongside the cat, as a Hong Kong phone shop has somehow landed its hands on a Pixel 3 XL and is selling it to prospective buyers a full three days before the phones’ launch. The early bird privileges will cost you, though, as the asking price is a hefty HK$15,880 (almost US$2,030).
Engadget was able to get its hands on one, and you can check out the phone in its full glory, including the packaging and included accessories in the box. The phone will, of course, be the first to ship with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.
The notch on the phone looks to be less wide than on the Pixel 2, but it is also seemingly taller. There’s still only one rear camera, and the sample obtained by Engadget only had 4GB of RAM, which was a little disappointing given the phone’s flagship credentials. As expected, though, it’s powered by a Snapdragon 845.
The company had a similar incident last month, when someone apparently forgot their test sample in the back of a Lyft. What may be far more interesting though, and hold on to your hats here, is if all of this is an extremely elaborate hoax by Google. We’ll find out in a few days on October 9.
