Nov. 17 (UPI) — Harvard running back Devin Darrington had a touchdown reversed after he wagged his finger at the Yale defense on Saturday at Fenway Park in Boston.
The play occurred in the fourth quarter of Harvard’s 45-27 victory. Harvard faced a 1st-and-10 on the 27-yard-line when Darrington darted right and broke through the Yale secondary. He raced toward pay-dirt, out-sprinting defenders until he reached the 5-yard-line.
That’s where it all went wrong for the running back. Darrington turned to his left and wagged his finger. Officials gave Darrington a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, denying the score.
Harvard ended up kicking a field goal on the drive.
Darrington had 91 yards and two scores on nine carries in the win. Tyler Adams led Harvard’s rushing attack with 98 yards and a score on four carries.
