Freezing rain, sleet and snow covered Livingston County Tuesday, causing school closures and hazardous travel warnings from local officials.
Livingston County Emergency Management asked residents to limit their travel, if possible.
« Another week of dicey weather. ‘Wintery Mix’ which is everything from snow to freezing rain, » the department posted Monday on Facebook. « Monday night through Wednesday will be the worst of it. Please pay attention to local weather reports, limit travel as much as possible, check on neighbors, be prepared at home and if you must travel, have a cold weather kit in your vehicle. Be safe!, »
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the county and neighboring communities that is in effect until 3 p.m. Wednesday.
County schools closed due to icy, unsafe driving conditions. County schools have used six snow days this year due to frigid temperatures, snow and ice.
Pinckney Community Schools Superintendent Rick Todd issued a statement on the district’s Facebook page early Tuesday morning, warning parents of hazardous conditions.
