If you opened up the latest edition of American Rifleman — the National Rifle Association’s magazine — you would have noticed a startling juxtaposition of image and caption. For an article titled “Target Practice,” the magazine chose to feature an image of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
Even more disturbing is the fact that, just over Pelosi’s right shoulder, is former congresswoman Gabby Giffords. The photo was taken when Democrats were holding a press conference to talk about gun control. Giffords was shot in 2011 in an unsuccessful assassination attempt.
Though she survived the attempted murder, she was shot in the head and resigned from Congress to recover from her injury.
Someone sent me this image of the latest copy of NRA’s magazine, featuring a story with the words « Target Practice » next to a photo of Nancy Pelosi with Gabby Giffords.
