The battle royale game this morning introduced a direct payment option to bypass giving a cut of in-app purchases to Google. The Fortnite listing was removed from the Play Store just before 4 p.m. PT. Google issued the following statement: “The open Android ecosystem lets developers distribute apps through multiple app stores. For game developers who choose to use the Play Store, we have consistent policies that are fair to developers and keep the store safe for users.
