Capitol riot panel moves to hold former DOJ lawyer in contempt

Clark was an ardent champion of Trump’s efforts to undo the election results within the Justice Department in the weeks leading up to the Jan. 6 attack.
The House committee investigating the storming of the Capitol on Jan.6 moved to refer former senior Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark for prosecution on Monday over his refusal to cooperate with the high-stakes probe. If contempt charges are approved by the panel on Wednesday, the recommendation of criminal contempt charges would then go to the full House for a vote and then to the Justice Department. Clark’s case could be more complicated since he did appear for his deposition and, unlike Bannon, was a Trump administration official on Jan.
