\nFox News host\u00a0Ainsley Earhardt\u00a0incorrectly said Thursday that the U. S. defeated \u00ab\u00a0communist Japan\u00a0\u00bb in World War II as she defended\u00a0America’s greatness.
\u00ab\u00a0We defeated communist Japan,\u00a0\u00bb Earhardt said on \u00ab\u00a0Fox & Friends,\u00a0\u00bb responding to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) saying America \u00ab\u00a0was never that great\u00a0\u00bb a day prior. Japan has never been communist and was under imperial rule during World War II.
\u00ab\u00a0We\u2019re the most generous country in all of the world,\u00a0\u00bb she said. \u00ab\u00a0Yes, we have our faults, but because of this country, this world is definitely a better place. We are great.\u00a0\u00bb
Fellow \u00ab\u00a0Fox\u00a0& Friends\u00a0\u00bb host Steve Doocy appeared to correct Earhardt by saying that the U. S. has defeated \u00ab\u00a0communism and Japan and so many other things as well.\u00a0\u00bb

Cuomo’s office walked back the remark shortly after, saying that Cuomo believes \u00ab\u00a0America is great and that her full greatness will be fully realized when every man, woman, and child has full equality.\u201d
Trump seized on the comment later that night, saying that Cuomo was having a \u00ab\u00a0total meltdown\u00a0\u00bb in a late-night tweet.
Cuomo is currently running for reelection and is in a primary contest with Cynthia Nixon, who is challenging Cuomo from the left.<\/p>\n
