\u00ab\u00a0I actually shot and killed Santa in the original movie,\u00a0\u00bb Tim Allen says of 1994 family film in which he starred, \u00ab\u00a0The Santa Clause.\u00a0\u00bb<\/b>
\nTo many, Tim Allen will always be Santa. But as it turns out, the original 1994 family film \u201cThe Santa Clause\u201d was supposed to be \u201cdarker.\u201d
\u201cThe original \u2018Santa Clause\u2019 is a little darker, written by two comedians, and I actually shot and killed Santa in the original movie,\u201d the actor explained to Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday\u2019s episode of \u201cThe Tonight Show.\u201d \u201cHe fell off the roof because I thought he was a burglar.\u201d
He added, \u201cHe gives me the card \u2013 the whole movie starts. The kid actually starts, \u2018You just killed Santa.\u2019 And I said, \u2018He shouldn\u2019t have been on the roof when he wasn\u2019t invited.’\u201d

Allen then explained that the head of Disney at the time, Jeffrey Katzenberg, told him that they can\u2019t start a Disney movie with Allen killing Santa.
\u201cI\u2019m a comedian \u2014 why not? It\u2019s funny,\u201d he explained, adding that he said at the time, \u201cYou kill all the parents in all your other movies!\u201d
What we got instead was Allen\u2019s character Scott Calvin spooking Santa while he was getting ready to climb down the chimney, causing him to fall off the roof. After finding a card on Santa saying if anything should happen to him to put on the red suit, Allen becomes the next Santa.

\u201cI\u2019m literally the last guy in the world who should be Santa Claus because I don\u2019t like kids all that much,\u201d the actor joked. \u201cI\u2019m not going to hurt them, I don\u2019t say inappropriate stuff, just don\u2019t like them.\u201d
Allen also starred in the franchise\u2019s two sequels: \u201cThe Santa Clause 2\u201d and \u201cThe Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.\u201d
