The Duchess of Sussex took the stage to present Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award.<\/b>
\nMonday’s 2018 Fashion Awards was filled with one big name after another — Kendall Jenner, Penelope Cruz, Naomi Watts, to name a few — but the audience got the surprise of a lifetime when the Duchess of Sussex appeared on stage at the Royal Albert Hall to present Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award.
Keller, who has been with the fashion powerhouse since 2017, has been behind many of the royal’s most iconic looks, including her wedding dress.
\u00ab\u00a0To have someone like that trust you in an incredible moment in their life is something that is just the most unbelievable honor,\u00a0\u00bb Keller said while accepting her award. \u00ab\u00a0I can\u2019t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.\u201d
Unsurprisingly Givenchy was also behind the dress Meghan donned to surprise and honor Keller. The 37-year-old royal took the stage in a black form-fitting one shoulder gown, which aptly showed off the duchess’ growing baby bump. Meghan opted for a sleek and simple bun, a gold cuff by Pippa Small and Tamara Mellon heels, as well as some protocol-pushing dark nail polish to accessorize.
