The film will go wide on January 10,2020.
Mendes, who wrote the original script with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, will direct and produce the film. Pippa Harris \u2014 his partner at Neal Street Productions \u2014 will also produce along with Jayne-Ann Tenggren and Callum McDougall. George MacKay (\u201cCaptain Fantastic\u201d) and Dean-Charles Chapman (\u201cGame of Thrones\u201d) are set to star.

Previously, Amblin Partners won the pitched spec package to finance \u201c1917\u201d in a battle with New Regency, Paramount and Sony, according to Deadline. The plot is being kept under wraps. The film will begin production next April.
\u201c1917\u201d marks a reunion for Mendes and DreamWorks. The British director made his first feature, the Oscar-winning \u201cAmerican Beauty,\u201d under the DreamWorks label, followed by two other productions \u2014 \u201cRoad to Perdition\u201d and \u201cRevolutionary Road.\u201d
\u201c1917\u201d also marks Mendes\u2019 return to the big screen after directing James Bond movies \u201cSkyfall\u201d and \u201cSpectre\u201d back to back. Mendes most recently directed the London stage production of \u201cThe Ferryman.\u201d
