Destiny’s Child alum Michelle Williams will take a hiatus from the Broadway production of \u00ab\u00a0Once On This Island.\u00a0\u00bb<\/b>
\nDec. 13 (UPI) — Michelle Williams is stepping down from her role in a new Broadway musical.
Playbill confirmed the 38-year-old singer and actress will take a hiatus from the Broadway production of Once On This Island .
\u00ab\u00a0Effective immediately, Michelle T. Williams has been advised by her doctors to take a leave of absence from performing,\u00a0\u00bb the show said in a statement Wednesday, according to People.
Williams debuted as the goddess Erzulie in Once On This Island on Nov. 30. Cassondra James will replace Williams in the role through Dec. 26 before Lea Salonga takes over until the musical closes Jan. 6.
News of Williams’ departure follows word of her split from her fianc\u00e9, pastor Chad Johnson. Williams said in a since-deleted post last week that she and Johnson had called it quits.
