Pokemon GO developer Niantic officially confirms details regarding its Winter event for 2018, giving players their first glimpse at the upcoming bonuses.<\/b>
\nToday, Pokemon Go developer Niantic officially unveiled the upcoming Winter event, which starts December 18th at 1 PM PST with some bonuses lasting all the way through January 2,2019. Of course, some of the most anticipated features weren\u2019t directly addressed yet, but per the official event image, it certainly seems like fans will be getting their hands on some new gen 4 Pokemon during the Winter event 2018.
As part of this event, Ice-types including Jynx, Spheal, Delibird, Sneasel, Swinub, Snorunt, and Snover are set to appear, with the Pokemon GO announcement also promising \u201ccertain other Pokemon\u201d being interested in the event. Of course, that was followed up with the confirmed Festive Hat Pikachu reveal, but could also reference some highly desired Pokemon like Mamoswine or Froslass.
This seems plausible since Swinub and Snorunt are getting increased spawns, but it remains to be seen. Other bonuses for this event include:
As many may notice, there\u2019s no mention of Croagunk, Chingling, or the legendary lake trio (Uxie, Azelf, Mesprit) in the notes for the event, but each of those Pokemon appear in the official promo image. While this is nothing solid, it means they could be involved somehow or coming soon. The legendary lake trio would make the most sense as raid bosses or field research breakthrough rewards, while the others could just have typical spawns throughout the event.
All things considered, this is a huge ending to the year, with the month already packed to the brim with events such as the December Community Day, December Special Research Breakthrough, and the plethora of field research quests and rewards. If this event does see the addition of the aforementioned Pokemon such as Croagunk, Mamoswine, or the highly coveted Glaceon, then Niantic may very well end the year on a high note.
