BRUSSELS (Sputnik) – Some 50 \u00ab\u00a0yellow vest\u00a0\u00bb protesters were detained on Saturday in the Belgian capital of Brussels, local media reported.<\/b>
\nAccording to RTBF broadcaster, the detentions were made in Luxembourg square, near the headquarters of the European Parliament. The \u00ab\u00a0yellow vests\u00a0\u00bb planned to march toward the so-called European Quarter, where other EU institutions are located.
The protests in Belgium followed weeks of similar \u00ab\u00a0yellow vest\u00a0\u00bb demonstrations against fuel tax hikes raging in France since November 17.
Last Saturday, more than 400 people were detained in an unauthorized \u00ab\u00a0yellow vest\u00a0\u00bb rally in Brussels.<\/p>\n
