\nNEW YORK (AP) \u2014 Toni Braxton has been nominated for Grammys again for her latest album, but these days the singer is also focusing on acting \u2014 and flexing her producing muscles.
\u00ab\u00a0I find that I really love everything about film and film-making,\u00a0\u00bb the multiplatinum-singer said in a recent interview. \u00ab\u00a0I just really love movies, whether TV or anything that’s dealing with film.\u00a0\u00bb
Braxton, a seven-time Grammy winner nominated for two more Grammys earlier this month for her latest album \u00ab\u00a0Sex & Cigarettes,\u00a0\u00bb is currently starring in \u00ab\u00a0Every Day Is Christmas\u00a0\u00bb on Lifetime. Inspired by the Charles Dickens classic, \u00ab\u00a0A Christmas Carol,\u00a0\u00bb the movie centers around Alexis Taylor, played by Braxton, as she gets the holiday visit of a lifetime. (\u00ab\u00a0Every Day is Christmas\u00a0\u00bb is re-airing on Lifetime on Saturday and on Christmas Day.)
A self-proclaimed workaholic who \u00ab\u00a0humbugs\u00a0\u00bb love, Alexis ends up embracing the spirit of Christmas when her past, present, and future collide, forcing her to risk the one thing money can’t buy: her heart.
\u00ab\u00a0I love Christmas movies,\u00a0\u00bb she said. \u00ab\u00a0Holiday time makes me feel happy and festive and excited. I got a three-picture deal at Lifetime and I thought a Christmas movie would be the perfect way to come out and introduce it.\u00a0\u00bb
But not only is she working hard in front of the camera, she’s putting in sweat equity behind it. Braxton serves as an executive producer on the movie. She said she got \u00ab\u00a0a little taste\u00a0\u00bb of executive producing over the years \u00ab\u00a0but now that I’ve bitten the apple, I want the whole thing.\u00a0\u00bb
Braxton’s first film role was in 2001’s \u00ab\u00a0Kingdom Come.\u00a0\u00bb Since then, she’s starred in several TV movies, including her own biopic, 2016’s \u00ab\u00a0Toni Braxton: Un-Break My Heart\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0Faith Under Fire\u00a0\u00bb which premiered earlier this year.
