John Singleton, director of<\/b>
\nAfter suffering a major stroke, John Singleton remains on life support, his publicist told The Times on Monday morning.
The representative for the 51-year-old director clarified his condition after reports of his death surfaced.
\u201cJohn is still on life support,\u201d she told The Times. \u201cThat reporting is inaccurate.\u201d
The Oscar-nominated director of 1991’s \u00ab\u00a0Boyz n the Hood\u00a0\u00bb was hospitalized in intensive care after suffering a stroke on Wednesday.
\u201cWe ask that privacy be given to him and our family at this time and appreciate all of the prayers that have been pouring in from his fans, friends and colleagues,\u201d his family said at the time.
Singleton \u2014 who also directed \u201cPoetic Justice,\u201d \u201cHigher Learning,\u201d \u00ab\u00a02 Fast 2 Furious\u00a0\u00bb and the 2000 remake of \u00ab\u00a0Shaft\u201d \u2014 grew up in South Los Angeles, attended USC and produced the A&E documentary \u00ab\u00a0L.A. Burning: The Riots 25 Years Later.\u00a0\u00bb
He also co-created the FX series \u201cSnowfall,\u201d about the 1980s crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles. Its third season is scheduled to begin later this year.<\/p>\n
