This was made known during the tech giant\u2019s earnings call for the second quarter of the year (via) which is the company\u2019s third fiscal quarter of 2020. According to Luca Maestri, Apple\u2019s Chief Financial Officer, despite the sales of last year\u2019s new generation iPhones going on sale in September,this year the company projects supply will be \u201cavailable a few weeks later\u201d. The company didn\u2019t give any reason for this slight delay but it may not be unconnected with the COVID 19 pandemic which slowed down production in several factories across Asia including those which supply Apple components used for the iPhones. Qualcomm, which is expected to supply the modem Apple will use on the iPhone 12 had earlier hinted that the company will delay shipment of the iPhone 12 to October 2020. The delay in shipment is expected to impact the company\u2019s financial result for the third quarter of the year since the new models will completely miss it, not being out before the end of September.<\/p>\n
