\nFox just announced the judging panel and host for its newest singing competition, \u201cAlter Ego.\u201d The music-focused judges will include \u201cIronic\u201d singer Alanis Morissette, Grimes, Nick Lachey and \u201cBlack Eyed Peas\u201d alum will.i.am. Rocsi Diaz \u2014 who co-hosted the BET program \u201c106 & Park\u201d \u2014 will host. \u201cAlter Ego\u201d will feature contestants who hide their true identities and perform as their \u201cdream avatar,\u201d showcasing their unique performance style via motion capture technology. \u201c\u2018Alter Ego\u2019 merges talent and technology to revolutionize the singing competition show in only a way Fox can do,\u201d said Rob Wade, president of alternative entertainment and specials at Fox. \u201cWe are so excited to bring the fantastic will.i.am, Alanis, Grimes, Nick and Rocsi together as they search for the next big singing star, allowing incredible vocalists a chance to realize their dreams and perform like never before.\u201d Matilda Zoltowski, who has worked on talent shows including \u201cWorld of Dance\u201d and \u201cDancing with the Stars,\u201d will serve as the show\u2019s executive producer. The show is set to take the time slot of \u201cGame of Talents.\u201d \u201cAlter Ego\u201d will be the second Fox series on which Alanis Morissette has appeared, following her role on the network\u2019s animated comedy \u201cThe Great North.\u201d Lachey was a contestant on \u201cThe Masked Singer\u201d last season. Will.i.am serves as a coach on the UK version of \u201cThe Voice.\u201d And Canada-born Grimes \u2014 a k a Claire Boucher \u2014 is the partner of Tesla founder Elon Musk and recently released her concept album \u201cMiss Anthropocene.\u201d \u201cAlter Ego\u201d will pair with Season 6 of \u201cThe Masked Singer\u201d on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. in the fall. \u201c Masked,\u201d hosted by Nick Cannon, features star panelists guessing the identities of celebrities by interpreting clues throughout the season. After performances conclude, the audience and panelists vote for their favorite singer, and the least popular contestant takes off their mask to reveal their identity. \u201cThe Masked Singer\u201d also seemed to have influenced a new dating show on Netflix called \u201c Sexy Beasts,\u201d in which guests test chemistry with others without ever seeing their faces \u2014 which are masked by cutting-edge Hollywood movie prosthetics. Fox also put on a spinoff of \u201cThe Masked Singer\u201d titled \u201c The Masked Dancer,\u201d in which celebs disguise their identities with elaborate costumes to perform in front of a panel of judges.<\/p>\n
