The Biden family connections to China have triggered questions in the past already, with Hunter cashing in on a special deal shortly after he traveled there with his father on Air Force Two while Joe Biden was vice president. There were reports from another deal, too, where the « big guy, » identified as Joe Biden, was set to get a 10% cut. The situation is that Hunter Biden has provided innumerable other scandals for his father, including his huge paychecks from Burisma, a Ukrainian company under investigation for corruption, as well as his use of Air Force Two to travel to Mexico for yet another business deal. The White House repeatedly has defended the latest venture, Hunter Biden’s plans to sell paintings for hundreds of thousands of dollars each, even though Abby Phillip of CNN warned, « I’m not an art critic. I don’t know anything about art, but these people do. One Pulitzer-prize winning art critic says that he thinks that Hunter Biden’s art is kind of like a cafe painter. He says, you wouldn’t, unless you were related to the artist, spend more than $1,000 on it. But then another art critic, who actually likes Hunter Biden’s work also says this, ‘Anybody who buys it would be guaranteed instant profit. He’s the president’s son.’ « »Obviously, this is a problem, an ethical problem, of optics and from a practical perspective, » Philip continued. The White House has claimed it can avoid ethics issues by keeping the buyers of Hunter Biden’s paintings secret. Joe Biden has in at least one previous instance, appeared to be moving directly to protect Hunter Biden’s interests. While Joe Biden was vice president, Burisma was funding Hunter Biden’s lifestyle at the rate of nearly a million dollars a year, but was under investigation for corruption. Joe Biden openly boasted of threatening to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid if Ukraine’s president did not fire the country’s top prosecutor, Victor Shokin, who at the time was investigating Burisma for corruption. Washington Examiner Chief Political Correspondent Byron York just this week explained that the stories about Hunter Biden’s dealings are so important: « Remember a key fact here: Joe Biden has said repeatedly that he never knew about his son’s business dealings. If what [New York Post columnist Miranda] Devine is reporting is correct, Biden made those claims after having financially benefited from his son’s business dealings and after having been a part of some of his son’s business events. Again: The Hunter Biden laptop story is not about Hunter Biden. It’s about Joe Biden, » he wrote. Now Fox has confirmed the art dealer representing the president’s son « has longstanding ties to China and said in 2015 that he wanted to be the art world’s ‘lead guy in China.' » It is Georges Berges who is representing Hunter Biden as he advances his efforts to collect from the art world. A representative for Berges previously said the buyers of Hunter Biden’s paintings will be kept confidential and the White House claims there’s a plan to prevent Hunter Biden from knowing who buys his paintings, even though his open admission he’ll attend art shows with potential buyers undermines that. It was a few years back that Berges said in an interview with Resident, « My plan is to be the lead guy in China; the lead collector and art dealer discovering and nurturing talent from that region. I plan to find and discover and bring to the rest of the world those I consider China’s next generation of modern artists. » He speculated about the cultural impact on the world from China, saying, « Cultural power is real power. » He previously had told Quest magazine that he goes to China several times a year. Fox reported, « Berges’ reported ties to China and the anonymity of the buyers could pose a potential ethics problem, especially with the younger Biden’s prodigal relationship with President Biden. Anonymous buyers could have ties to the Chinese Communist Party and could attempt to buy influence in the Biden administration through the art purchases. » Fox News contributor Dan Bongino, meanwhile, described the planned deals by Hunter Biden, and Joe Biden’s attitudes, as « trolling » Americans. « They really have to be laughing at us. They have to be sitting in the movie theater in the White House going, ‘You know, guys, there’s grifting and then there’s grifting. And look at these idiots — like, look how we suckered these American people.' » He continued, « I think they are trolling us. They have to be openly mocking us, seriously. If there was like a Major League Baseball of grifting, this guy’s the MVP of the league. » Critics of Hunter Biden’s plans have noted the situation literally lends itself to the possibility of influence buying, as even a president’s family is not immune to the appeal of $500,000 checks and Joe Biden already has been revealed to have been involved financially in some of Hunter Biden’s deal manipulations. The Daily Mail noted that even if a process is worked out so Hunter Biden doesn’t know who is buying, « it still provides an opportunity for unidentified individuals to shovel large sums to the president’s son… » Richard Painter, an ethics expert, told the Washington Post the concept is « a really bad idea. » « So instead of disclosing who is paying outrageous sums for Hunter Biden’s artwork so that we could monitor whether the purchasers are gaining access to government, the WH tried to make sure we will never know who they are. That’s very disappointing, » added ethics expert Walter Shaub. SUPPORT TRUTHFUL JOURNALISM. MAKE A DONATION TO THE NONPROFIT WND NEWS CENTER.
