\nPrior to a fatal crash, a U.S. Navy helicopter experienced \u201cside-to-side\u201d vibrations before its main rotor hit the deck of an aircraft carrier while attempting to land. Five people were killed in the incident on Aug.31 in the Pacific Ocean about 70 miles from San Diego. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, the MH-60S Seahawk fell from the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln after the blades hit the ship. One of the crew members was rescued but five were declared dead after a search. Five sailors aboard the ship were also injured and two were brought ashore to be hospitalized. The remains of the crew and the wreckage have yet to be recovered. The Navy investigation is still ongoing and did not reveal a reason for the vibrations. The crash is the third fatal incident involving military training in the area in 13 months after 8 Marines were killed when an assault amphibious vehicle sank in July 2020 and two soldiers were killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash in August 2020.
