One that’s on the way is a spin-off (and send-off?) for one of the original six Avengers: Hawkeye. We’ve rounded up everything we know so far about this Disney Plus series – read on for more information. In the meantime, why not check out our picks of the best TV shows and movies on Disney Plus? Hawkeye is now confirmed to begin airing on Wednesday 24 November, with episodes expected to drop weekly. Assuming that we’re getting six episodes – as we did for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Loki – that means the series should wrap on 29 December, just ahead of New Year’s. The Hawkeye trailer is officially here, with all the festive spirit you can imagine. Take a look below, and then read our trailer breakdown for all the information you need: We also have a look at the title sequence, which you can watch here: The series will follow Hawkeye training his young apprentice Kate Bishop, known from the comics to eventually take over the mantle of Hawkeye, and likely to eventually start appearing in the MCU movies too. Here’s a look at the pair of them together in the first official image from the show: Kate Bishop is already trained in martial arts when she meets Hawkeye, and so is a quick learner of archery under Clint’s mentorship. Like Hawkeye, she doesn’t possess any superpowers, and focuses more on street crime rather than massive outer space threats. The inclusion of Lucky the dog in the series gives us hope that the series will be adapting the phenomenal My Life as a Weapon arc from the comics, but as yet that’s unconfirmed. Producer Kevin Feige also revealed at the D23 Expo that we’d see more into the life of Ronin – Clint Barton’s darker alter-ego that went on a killing spree after losing his family due to the Thanos snap. We imagine this will take place in the form of flashbacks. In an interview with TV Guide, executive producer Trin Tranh stated that this series will be inspired by the holiday season, and will be, “grounded and funny, packed to the brim with Christmas spirit.” Tranh also said that the series will explore how the citizens of New York City are finally healing after the Thanos snap. Spoilers for Black Widow ahead Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) from Black Widow will likely play a big part in the series. In the post-credits of Black Widow, Yelena had a visit from Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who showed a picture of Hawkeye and told Yelena that he would be her « next target ». Valentina implied that Clint was responsible for Natasha’s death, which obviously we know isn’t the case. Therefore it will be interesting to see whether Yelena continues to work for her when she finds out the truth. Yelena could also end up being part of the team that Valentina is trying to assemble, which includes the villain John Walker from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The first full trailer now gives us a bigger insight into what we can expect from Hawkeye: Christmas fun, Die Hard style. The trailer opens with Clint having dinner with his family around Christmas time, and generally making up for the time he spent away as Ronan during Avengers: Endgame. The news then reports of a masked vigilante, who many suspect to be Ronan – despite Hawkeye leaving that persona in the past. As a result, he appears to send his family away for protection, promising that he’ll be home for Christmas this year. Clint catches up with the masked vigilante, and discovers that it is Kate Bishop – the girl who will become his mentee (and likely successor). She believes that she is one of the world’s greatest archers, and appears to team up with Clint to take down some of the enemies from the past of Ronan. Throughout the numerous fights (including a big battle on the ice rink of the Rockerfeller Center), kidnappings, car chases and molotov cocktails, Clint is still promising his family that he’ll be back soon. Expect high action, with a sprinkling of that classic festive family cheer. Other easter eggs in the trailer include our first look at Lucky the Dog (who is adorable), appearances from the Tracksuit Mafia, as well as a glimpse of ‘Rogers the musical’, which this author is hoping will feature heavily in the show. Jeremy Renner will be reprising his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. You can see the two of them together on set in costume already thanks to some spy shots: The same thread also shows images of Lucky the Pizza Dog, a companion of Clint’s in the comics. Other confirmed cast members include Florence Pugh, Vera Farmiga, Fra Free, and Alaqua Cox. Seeing as this will be about Clint Barton’s life, we could see appearances from Linda Cardellini and Ava Russo, the actresses who played his wife Laura and daughter Lila respectively. We may also see appearances from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, considering her character’s connection to Yelena. Behind the camera, we also know that Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie will each direct some episodes of the first season. Possibly? Jeremy Renner put a caption on his Instagram Story on the last day of filming that read, « This is not a goodbye, but a see you soon ». This could imply that he’ll be back in some form for another season – even if Kate Bishop takes up the mantle. However, this could also be Renner confirming that he’s got appearances in other MCU properties as Clint Barton. Once we know more, we’ll update this article. Hawkeye will be a Disney Plus exclusive, joining other live-action MCU shows such as WandaVision.
