Although local media noted that, as of Wednesday night, there was no immediate danger to residents from the activity at Hawaii’s Kilauea, the agency’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory upped its alert level for the volcano from \u00ab\u00a0watch\u00a0\u00bb to \u00ab\u00a0warning,\u00a0\u00bb and its aviation color code\u2014which monitors such hazards as volcanic ash in the air\u2014from orange to red.
